Maria is a sans-serif typeface designed by Phil Baber. The design feels like a mix of Akzidenz Grotesk and Helvetica, however, the uppercase is more distinctive with a top-heavy R and a G and C that are much more geometric than typical neo-grotesques. Maria seems to be popular with designers but there is frustratingly little info about it available online— a designer even wrote an article about their exhausting attempt to figure out where to buy it. The site that sells it is cryptic as well, offering scant details. Maybe that sense of mystery adds to its appeal.
